PPS Parent Academy

On February 1st, Portland Public Schools launched the PPS Parent Academy, FREE workshops covering a host of topics in locations across Portland. Presenters cover everything from high school readiness to adolescent brain development to healthy cooking on a budget. Take a look at the Parent Academy Fall 2011 for the complete course schedule.

Research tells us that as children get older family engagement often slows down. This is a critical time for families to increase their engagement. Children who struggle in 9th grade have a significant chance of dropping out. A protective factor is family engagement. Staying involved through communicating with your child and their teachers can make a world of difference.
